The National Hispanic Health Foundation

NHMA established its Foundation, a 501c3 organization, in 1994 as the National Hispanic Medical Foundation to develop educational and research activities. In 2000, the name was changed to the National Hispanic Health Foundation (NHHF).

The major programs of the Foundation were started with support from the Office of Minority Health, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, including activities focused on Education, Research, Training, and Information Dissemination.

The NHHF is currently developing its Corporate Advisory Council consisting of the major partners who have supported the Annual Conference of the NHMA. This year, NHMA will plan for future expansion of NHMA Annual Conference and other CME activities, the NHMA Journal on Hispanic Health, and a Hispanic Health Professions Scholarship Fund. In addition, the NHMA will build its coalition efforts with the National Association of Hispanic Nurses, the National Hispanic Dental Association, the Association of Hispanic Health Executives, and the Hispanic-Serving Health Professions Schools, Inc. and develop a new leadership and public policy analysis program.

Finally, with the Robert F.Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, New York University, NHMA plans to develop Hispanic health services research training for leaders from these organizations and from Federal and State government.
